CAVS are commissioned by Anglian Water to help project manage the nationwide ‘Keep it Clear’ campaign across dedicated locations, including Castle Point, Basildon and Thurrock.
What is ‘Keep it Clear’?
If we put things like fat, oil and grease (FOG) down our sinks, and sanitary waste and wipes (known as unflushables) down the loo, it can block sewer pipes and pumps, flooding homes and gardens and spilling into local rivers and waterways.
Over half of the 40,000 sewer blockages in the Anglian Water region are caused by FOG and unflushables. The Keep-it-Clear campaign supports residents to reduce these blockages. So far, we are pleased to say, they have dropped by an average of 52%.
The Keep It Clear campaign helps reduce the misery, cost, bad smells and potential flooding and pollution caused by avoidable blockages.
We need your help to adopt the Keep-It-Clear habit and spread the word! If you would like to become a volunteer on this project and work as an environmental ambassador, then please email: email@example.com with your interest. This is a great opportunity to help us raise awareness of the issue, with lots of variety.
We also seek to build upon our engagement delivery of talks which are FREE to community groups and organisations across Castle Point, Basildon, Thurrock and Braintree. Our presentation can be tailor made to suit your specific requirements, or we will present our standard 30-45 minutes talk to small or large audiences. We are also happy to travel to a location of your choice.
There are also the added benefits of FREE campaign give-aways including gunk pots, sink strainers etc. to help you keep it clear.
With peoples help, by disposing of wipes and un-flushable items in the bin, we can protect our rivers, wildlife and the environment and keep the sewer system clear to do its job of taking sewage away from homes and businesses.
