CAVS runs a yearly calendar of high quality events and training courses at The White House. Designed to support individuals, volunteers and business representatives, the variety and scope of activities on offer aim to help develop your potential, share best practice, improve skills, knowledge and confidence. They are also great for networking.
CAVS Computer Training - FREE
Friday 2nd August 10am - 12pm at CAVS, The White House, Benfleet - (every Friday)
Places for the FREE computer training must be booked in advance. Personal laptops or tablets can be brought and used. Use of office computers is also available for the session.
This is an online course in partnership with ‘Learn My Way’, covering subjects such as the internet, using online banking, accessing online healthcare and public services, understanding and using social media, job searching and applying for jobs online.

My Weight Matters - FREE
Monday 5th August 9am – 11am at CAVS, The White House, Benfleet - (every Monday)
If you are struggling to manage your weight, the award winning My Weight Matters popular programme can help steer you on the right path to weight loss. No fad diets, the programme follows NHS guidance and offers individual support to keep you on track to your desired weight loss. Drop-in, get weighed and update your information pack.

Flash Parenting - FREE
Wednesday 4th December at CAVS, The White House, Benfleet (and other scheduled dates)
Flash is a course for parents to learn practical skills, over 10 weekly sessions.
This group course is ideal for parents/carers of a young person who is exhibiting self-harming behaviour. It aims to create better communication and personal relationships.
This engaging course delivers useful and informative information:
- Explanation of self-harming and how to relate to it
- Demonstration of the developmental processes
- Practical strategies and management of
- Improving listening, praise and encouragement skills
- Setting realistic expectations of parents/carer

CAVS Castle Point Volunteer Awards – 6th June 2020 - FREE

On Saturday 6th June, we will be celebrating all that is good about volunteering and the wonderful volunteers in our community, who give so generously of their time and dedication to so many worthy causes across Castle Point. Without doubt we have exceptional talent.
This joyous occasion brings together a host of volunteers who have been nominated into the CAVS Castle Point Awards ceremony which is sponsored by local businesses and supported by the Mayor of Castle Point. Individual’s who stand out, who go the extra mile to help others. It’s a time for people to be recognised, rewarded and wholeheartedly thanked.
There are 2 Award categories: The Mayor’s Award for volunteers over 21 years of age and The Young Volunteer Award for those under the age of 21.
